Made for the unfamiliar

What is hōjicha?

Hōjicha is a Japanese green tea, toasted over charcoal until the leaves turn amber and honeyed. We grind ours to a fine powder and soften it with Madagascan vanilla — so you whisk it like matcha, pour over the milk of your choice, and skip the brewing entirely.

From leaf to powder

We toast the leaves over charcoal, then grind them to a fine powder — softened with Madagascan vanilla for a subtle sweetness.

Naturally low caffeine

Gentler than coffee. The toasting process lowers caffeine, so the lift is calm — never wired.

Smoother than matcha

No bitterness, no grit. Hōcha is creamy and rounded with the depth of a slow afternoon.

Whisked, not brewed

Spoon, whisk in the bowl, pour over your milk of choice. A few unhurried minutes — no steeping, no timers.

Made the proper way

How it works

It’s a powder — like matcha. No brewing, no steeping. Spoon, whisk, pour over milk. Hot or iced.

  1. 1

    Spoon

One teaspoon of Hōcha into a cup or bowl.

  2. 2

    Whisk

Add a splash of hot water and whisk until smooth.

  3. 3

    Pour over milk

Top with hot milk, or pour over ice. Done.

The feeling

Two cups. Two energies.

Both wake you up. Only one lets you stay yourself.

Coffee

The familiar wake-up.

  • A quick spike
  • Buzzy
  • Then the dip
  • Gone by mid-afternoon
Hōcha

The grounded lift.

  • Grounded
  • Focused
  • Calm energy

Two ways to drink

Hot, or honeyed over ice.

The same pouch, two preparations. Both calm, both grounded — chosen by the weather, the hour, or the mood.

From the founder

I started making Hōcha for myself: weighing the powder, whisking it in the bowl, pouring it slowly over warm milk. Those few minutes are the whole point — a pause in the day rather than another thing to rush. Hōjicha, toasted and honeyed, was simply the tea I loved most.
